Octagonal Blender – Operation and Cleaning Guide
A quick guide to learning how to operate and clean the Octagonal Blender used in the tablet manufacturing industry.
Start Up Operation
- Check the overall cleanliness of the machine.
- Place the materials to be blended near the machine.
- Load the material and set the timer as per the product’s BMR.
- Set the RPM as per the product specification in the BMR. Switch the “ON” button in the main and run the machine.
Shutdown
- Shut down the main switch.
- Inform maintenance to switch off the main power supply from the panel board in the service area.
Cleaning (Days End Cleaning)
- Remove excess, stuck materials using a vacuum cleaner, lint free cloth or duster.
- Disassemble the machine in the sequence as provided below:
- Back lid
- Charging lid
- Single bolt baffle
- Clean the dismantled parts with lint free cloth or vacuum cleaner.
- Clean the machine and disassemble other parts using a lint free cloth.
- Clean the processing area as per the SOP.
- Assemble the machine.
- Once done, place “cleaned” label to the equipment.
- Document and log the cleaning in the log card.
Cleaning during Batch Changeover (Same Product of Ascending Potency)
- Remove excess, stuck materials using a vacuum cleaner, lint free cloth or duster.
- Disassemble the machine in the sequence as provided below:
- Back lid
- Charging lid
- Single bolt baffle
- Clean the dismantled parts with lint free cloth or vacuum cleaner.
- Clean the machine and disassemble other parts using a lint free cloth.
- Clean the processing area as per the SOP.
- Assemble the machine.
- Once done, place “cleaned” label to the equipment.
- Document and log the cleaning in the log card.
Cleaning at the time of Changeover/Same product of Descending Potency (Preventative Maintenance of Contact Parts)
- Remove excess, stuck materials using a vacuum cleaner, lint free cloth or duster.
- Disassemble the machine in the sequence as provided below:
- Back lid
- Charging lid
- Single bolt baffle
- Clean the exterior of the equipment with vacuum cleaner and lint free cloth.
- Wash the dismantled part with running water followed by rinsing with purified water.
- Wipe all the parts with 2% NaOH solution using cotton duster and allow it to remain for five to ten minutes.
- Clean all with running potable water using a cotton duster.
- Rinse all with enough purified water.
- Collect the final rinse in a conical flask with label and send to the QA department.
- Dry the equipment parts using a dryer.
- Assemble the equipment.
- Once cleaning is done, place a “cleaned” label on the equipment.
- Document the cleaning details in the equipment log.
