LFA’s Xylitol DC (“directly compressible”) is used as a non-carcinogenic sweetening agent in a variety of pharmaceutical dosage forms, including tablets, syrups, and coatings. It is also widely used as an alternative to sucrose in foods and as a base for medicated confectionery as it is a sugar alcohol and does not add any calories. Xylitol is increasingly used in applications in chewing gum, mouth-rinses, and toothpaste tablets as an agent that decreases dental plaque and tooth decay.

Other than toothpaste tablets, Xylitol is found in the ingredients of many mints, lozenges, gum, orally dissolving and other confectionery products.
